The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Diagnostics Division and requires working onsite 5 days a week. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform full-stack implementation of one or more components in code.
  • Define and execute unit testing and integration testing strategy for components.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for one or more components.
  • Integrate subsystem components into larger system designs and develop specifications based on customer requirements.
  • Independently define configuration parameters, interface specification, and deployment strategy for one or more components.
  • Define the acceptance test criteria and testing strategy for one or more components.
  • Perform functional and integration testing as needed.
  • Ensure traceability and compliance of code implementation with software requirements.
  • Contribute to assessment of existing designs for new or changing requirements.
  • Perform fault isolation and conduct root cause investigations for basic to moderate complexity issues.
  • Provide engineering effort estimates for moderate complexity defect correction or software change requests.
  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Work as a liaison between Regulatory, Change Control, and back-end support team to resolve user issues with applicable IT solution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Manage the product definition, issue tracking, and design description process with input from others.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders on decisions that impact their team.
  • Moderate experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
  • Experience in programming languages and Agile methodologies.
  • Moderate level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.
  • Moderate level of knowledge with continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD).
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Moderate ability to develop and design software code.
  • Moderate level understanding of design patterns.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Moderate level of ability to conduct thorough data analytics and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Experience working in technologies including Oracle database, Microsoft .NET, Crystal Reports, IBM WebSphere, and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
