All part-time and full-time employees will accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) from their start date and may utilize it following the successful completion of a 90-day introductory period. Accrual rates are based on all hours worked, including both regular and overtime hours. PTO can be used for vacation, illness, personal days, or holidays, and employees have the option to cash out up to 40 hours per paycheck.

Position Overview

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for developing tailored dietary plans as per the directives of the attending physician, overseeing the food services department, and conducting nutritional evaluations for patients as necessary, in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards set forth by Life Care.

Qualifications and Licensure Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics or a related field accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and compliance with state licensure or certification requirements. Must maintain an active and valid license throughout employment.
  • Registered member of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Experience in nutritional assessment and dietary planning.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a preference for prior experience in post-acute care.
Job Requirements
  • Familiarity with standards of practice for assessing geriatric patients.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines governing operations in a post-acute care environment.
  • Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing all required compliance training.
Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with patients and their families regarding nutritional needs and objectives.
  • Review menu plans to ensure they fulfill the nutritional requirements of patients and meet quality food service standards.
  • Design modified diets for patients as instructed by the attending physician.
  • Accurately input dietary information in a timely manner (e.g., patient charting, dietary database).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care meetings focused on nutrition.
  • Assist with additional food service tasks as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients.
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in all situations.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate productively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
