POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is a full-time exempt position, providing essential support to the JBLM-Mission Training Complex (MTC). The Network Engineer is responsible for overseeing the network operations of the Network Team. This includes coordinating all facets of the communications framework and exercise support strategies with communication planners from various simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and involved tactical units.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Engineer will serve as the principal communications architect for the MTC, ensuring effective coordination with external agencies and other branches within the MTC. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and establishing the communications architecture.
- Coordinating comprehensive communications plans.
- Configuring communication devices and assisting in the installation of equipment and circuitry to support distributed training exercises.
- Managing all elements of the communications architecture and exercise support plans in collaboration with communication planners at other simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and tactical units.
- Planning the distribution of data, voice, and video teleconferencing (VTC) across both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) in classified and unclassified environments for simulation networks, including NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and tactical networks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves an office setting with occasional outdoor exposure. Candidates should be prepared for occasional lifting of 25 lbs. or more, depending on the equipment involved.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with variations based on mission requirements. Work hours may also vary as needed.
OVERTIME AND TRAVEL:
Overtime may be required, and travel will be necessary as dictated by job demands.
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is between $77,000 and $85,000 annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a BA or BS degree in Network Management or a related discipline, along with at least 8 years of experience in network architecture design and implementation.
- Advanced skills in planning, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Microsoft server platform, as well as CISCO router, switch, and firewall configuration.
- Strong knowledge of technology integration and information flow, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, storage, and backup methodologies.
- Familiarity with specific product lines such as Cisco, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, and Tripwire.
- Possession of an Information Assurance Technical II (IAT II) baseline certificate in accordance with DoD M (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or GSEC).
- A Top-Secret clearance is required, with consideration for candidates holding a Secret clearance.
- Must achieve computing environment (CE) certification (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, etc.) within six months of employment.
- Experience in troubleshooting and supporting Cisco hardware is essential.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of a BA or BS in Network Management or a related field.
- Certification in Security +, Network +, or CCNA is required.
