Job Title: Assistant Director, Community Living

At Developmental Services, Inc. - Kokomo, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Director, Community Living to join our team. This role is responsible for providing support to direct care teams working in Residential Services, overseeing the development, training, and placement of staff to ensure the needs of our clients are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Interview and hire Direct Support Professionals, as needed.
  2. Interview, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise Residential Team Managers and QIDP's for Residential Services.
  3. Monitor and document all Residential Team Managers and QIDP's paid time off and leaves of absence.
  4. Audit and approve Residential Team Managers and QIDP's time and mileage sheets.
  5. Assist Residential Team Managers with disciplinary concerns and implementing required discipline for Direct Support Professionals.
  6. Ensure Residential Team Managers complete schedules and documentation.
  7. Oversee Residential Team Managers in all aspects of staff scheduling.
  8. Monitor that staff training requirements are met.
  9. Ensure that employee follow all departmental and agency policies as well as state and federal laws.
  10. Assist with the development and implementation of short and long-range programming.
  11. Serve as a liaison between persons receiving services, families, staff, professionals, and the community.
  12. Safeguard persons receiving services and family's human and civil rights.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of clients.
  14. Display patience in all situations involving clients.
  15. Appropriately respond to client behavior.
  16. Participate in annual and quarterly meetings for clients.
  17. Participate and lead meetings with Residential Managers, Residential QIDP's, and Community Living administrative staff.
  18. Attend and actively participate in all monthly staff meetings for Direct Support Professionals and Lead Direct Support Professionals.
  19. Develop and participate in monthly staff advisory meetings.
  20. Develop and follow a group home site schedule.
  21. Work alongside Quality Assurance with Residential investigations, annual surveys, complaints, safety drills, and all client health and safety measures.
  22. Ensure documentation of Residential Services is completed.
  23. Complete incident reports, including BDS, as needed.
  24. Maintain current knowledge and understanding of industry related trends, concerns, and changes.
  25. Assist with Residential outcome measurement reports.
  26. Lead annual survey efforts and documentation.
  27. Audit house paperwork and client files.
  28. Work with QIDP's to ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of both.
  2. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR, NCI, and First Aid certification annually.
  3. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  4. Maintain a valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
