Job Summary

The Millworks Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading building materials from commercial motor vehicles, legally and safely traveling to destinations through public and private roads, and completing mileage and fuel usage reports. This role requires a commitment to on-time and in-full deliveries, as well as a focus on maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicles
  • Legally and safely travel to destinations through public and private roads
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports
  • Demonstrate commitment to on-time and in-full deliveries
  • Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipments after completing each delivery
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all equipment
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Perform required safety audits of vehicles (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents
  • Annually update driver's qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during the course of work
  • Finds productive work to do in downtime
  • Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean
  • Comes to work professionally attired
  • Checks load for accuracy
  • Proactively manages job site conditions for next delivery and communicates with others
  • Always provides required paperwork and scanning for dispatch
  • Seeks to learn products and their application for the end users
  • Learns and follows established best practices
  • Learns from mistakes and accepts coaching as opportunities
  • Demonstrates legal and thorough knowledge of tie-down rules and regs
  • Understands weight, height, and length limits
  • Ensures that all material transported on the truck has either an invoice or Material Returns Form
  • Continues to participate in training as available
  • Learns best practices related to efficient loading, strapping, and driving
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Class C License
  • Must be 21 years old or over
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Open and transparent communication
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • Driving experience within 50-mile radius of primary location preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work in an office environment
  • Must be able to travel occasionally
