Work Schedule: Night shift from Sunday to Thursday, approximately 5 PM to 1:30 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Fleet Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fleet road equipment, including tractors, trailers, THERMO KING/CARRIER REFRIGERATION UNITS, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles.
  • Ensure adherence to all state and federal trucking regulations. You will also maintain accurate documentation and logs of maintenance activities using the MAXIMO FLEET MAINTENANCE SYSTEM.
  • Be prepared to perform road rescue as required.

Our technicians are vital to the US FOODS team, representing the organization with integrity and reliability while fostering strong relationships with colleagues.

  • Diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all necessary repairs on diesel equipment (e.g., tractors, trailers, bobtails, THERMO KING & CARRIER REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, lift gates, etc.).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with company standards.
  • Document all repair orders, preventative maintenance tasks, and parts usage.
  • Respond to road service calls and perform necessary road rescues or equipment transport.
  • Track assigned repairs using the MAXIMO FLEET MAINTENANCE SYSTEM.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide backup support to other maintenance personnel.
  • Exhibit a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and pursue certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Training:

High School Diploma is required.

Experience/Requirements:

  • A valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification are preferred.
  • At least three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or in REEFER/REFRIGERATION, or a combination of both; or three to five years of verifiable hands-on experience with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification, or both.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic and troubleshooting skills related to equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior experience managing a preventative maintenance program.
  • Must provide personal hand tools.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to comply with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations related to the shop and fleet.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical and ON-LINE SERVICE MANUALS.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and drivers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Familiarity with computer software and diagnostic equipment, including NORGON DIAG EQUIP/A/C RECOVERY, etc.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Availability to work overtime as needed.
