You will operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body portion involved
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
- Minimum of two years of experience in a specialty (e.g., mammography, CT, or quality management)
- One year of experience in a specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in that specialty
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
- Basic Life Support
