About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Covanta Holding Corporation. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating various pieces of equipment and machinery to facilitate the receipt, transfer, stockpile, process, and unloading of municipal solid waste into the refuse pit.

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including frontend loaders, skid steers, and sweepers, to efficiently manage waste streams.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Ensure employees conduct business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform facility inspection checks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Follow and enforce all required safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have prior experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, front-end loaders, and sweepers.
  • A valid driver's license and any applicable regulatory licensing are required.
  • Must be flexible to work rotating shifts.
