Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as directed by healthcare professionals
  • Document patient-related care in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records
  • Administer medications, including oral and intramuscular medications, and may administer intravenous therapy if certified
  • Perform various treatments and procedures
  • Assist with doctor's sick call and chronic care clinics management
  • Participate in patient care planning and treatment team activities
  • Respond to emergencies and provide emergency care
  • Collect vital signs and document findings
  • Collect urine and/or other body fluid specimens
  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
  • Prepare patients for release and/or transfer
  • Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services
  • Participate in work-related training and institution training exercises
  • Provide assistance to other healthcare staff
  • Investigate and document problem areas and/or areas of concern
  • Review shift report from preceding shift(s)
  • Assist physicians with medical procedures
  • Assume duties of other nurses during absences
  • Observe, document, and provide nursing support to assistive personnel
  • Provide patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
  • Perform administrative duties
  • Attend meetings and schedule multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Perform and/or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
  • Assist ancillary staff to ensure patient care needs are met

Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must have a license to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing and MDS certification issued by ANNAC.
