About the Job

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing administrative support and care in a sensitive and compassionate manner. As a member of our care team, you will work under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse to deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Record patient interview and history
  • Provide approved patient education materials upon direction of provider or RN
  • Prepare patients for examinations, routine screening tests, and procedures
  • Assist the provider or RN with procedures as needed
  • Perform phlebotomy and obtain lab specimens as ordered
  • Perform testing to meet regulatory requirements as ordered
  • Perform point of care testing as ordered
  • Perform EKGs as ordered
  • Prepare and administer medications (no IV medications) based on written provider order
  • Change dressings as ordered
  • Remove sutures/staples as ordered
  • Assist in emergency situations under the direction of the provider
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked patient care area
  • Abide by all federal mandates
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA guidelines
Requirements
  • Graduate of School of Practical Nursing
  • Current license in good standing to practice as an practical nurse in the State of Ohio, IV certification preferred
  • One to two years previous experience preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Current BLS/CPR and maintain current certification
  • Demonstrates skills and abilities in clinical and administrative areas including phlebotomy, office lab testing, patient care, injections, vitals and EKG
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures
  • Basic computer skills required, previous experience with EMR preferred
