WORK SCHEDULE: 2 Days and 2 Nights On-Call
This role demands a strong commitment to teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to departmental scheduling requirements, including punctuality and a positive attitude.
Special Conditions: This position may require on-call duties and responding to emergencies outside of regular hours.
Supervision: The Respiratory Therapist operates under the direct oversight of the Cardio/Pulmonary Manager or designated administrator, with increasing autonomy based on performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe and effective cardiopulmonary services to patients.
- Accurately interpret and verify physician orders.
- Engage in clear communication with the healthcare team.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including nebulization and ventilation support.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas collection and pulmonary function assessments.
- Evaluate patient needs and responses to treatment, providing necessary adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health and treatment plans.
- Clarify procedures to patients to foster understanding and cooperation.
Maintain precise and current documentation of all care provided, ensuring seamless communication within the healthcare team:
- Review and maintain patient records and charts.
- Document all care activities, medication administration, and interactions with patients and families.
Ensure the proper functioning of respiratory equipment through regular maintenance:
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on all respiratory devices.
- Calibrate equipment as necessary and conduct proficiency testing.
- Adhere to quality control procedures and report any discrepancies.
Conduct specimen collection and pre-analytical processes in line with safety protocols:
- Collect biological specimens directly from patients.
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure safety.
Additional Responsibilities:
Stay updated with current practices and pursue professional development:
- Maintain knowledge of various treatment techniques across different patient demographics.
- Engage in continuous professional development and performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in training sessions and skills assessments as required.
- Contribute to tracking quality measures and complete annual competencies.
Provide mask fit testing services for employees as needed.
