CNC Machinist Specialist

We are seeking an experienced CNC Grinding Machinist to join our team at Schmiede Corporation. As a CNC Grinding Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various grinding machines to grind metal pieces to precise specifications.

• Set up and operate grinding machines, including external, internal, and form CNC grinders
• Grind metal pieces to precise specifications, using knowledge of grinding procedures and metal properties
• Study blueprints or layouts to visualize grinding operations and plan sequence of operations
• Select grinding wheels and secure them on spindles, using wrenches and dressing devices
• Write CNC programs to regulate machine movements and adjust positions and actions of wheels and work pieces
• Verify dimensions of ground work pieces for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments
• Communicate with supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of trade school, vocational education, or work experience
• Minimum of 10 years of CNC Grinding Machinist experience
• Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor, exerting at least 50 pounds of force occasionally
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally

The employee will be subject to an industrial worksite, including noise from operating machines, moving equipment, and machine shop-related chemicals that may require restricted handling and proper use of PPE.
