Empowering Young Minds: A Special Education Teacher Opportunity

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in the Eastpointe, MI area. This full-time, in-person position for the 2024-2025 school year offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on the lives of middle school students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of students with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and other exceptionalities.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated learning approaches to address diverse learning styles and academic needs of middle school students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects aligned with state standards, with a focus on closing learning gaps and promoting academic success for college and career readiness.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into the resource room environment to foster emotional well-being, self-advocacy skills, and positive peer relationships among students.
  • Deliver specialized instruction and support services aligned with each student's IEP goals in small group settings within the resource room, focusing on targeted interventions to address specific learning challenges.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness of instructional strategies to inform ongoing learning plans for students with special needs.
  • Partner with students to develop transition plans for high school or vocational training after middle school graduation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education for middle school students.
Working in a Resource Room Setting:

This position allows you to provide targeted instruction and support to students with special needs in a dedicated space within the school. You will collaborate with general education teachers to ensure a smooth transition between resource room and mainstream classroom settings.

Qualifications:
  • Michigan State Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with students with special needs in a middle school setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning theories as they apply to students with diverse learning needs in middle school.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal standards.
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills to create a positive and engaging learning environment for middle school students with special needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting on student progress.
  • A passion for helping middle school students with special needs overcome challenges, prepare for their futures, and reach their full potential in a supportive school environment.
