Job Summary

Fidelity National Financial is seeking a highly skilled Senior Title Claims Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our claims department, you will be responsible for managing the disposition of Major Claims from inception to final disposition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigation and Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations of each claim, gathering relevant documents and interviewing insureds and employees to determine coverage and potential exposure.
  • Claim Management: Manage and supervise outside or in-house counsel retained to represent the insured or the company in litigation, including budgeting, case strategy, and trial tactics.
  • Settlement and Negotiation: Attend settlement conferences and mediations with appropriate settlement authority, and negotiate settlements to minimize exposure.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular briefings and reports to management and corporate legal on claim status, potential exposure, and likely outcomes.
  • Reinsurance and Recoupment: Investigate and pursue potential recoupment against insureds, agents, and third parties responsible for losses, and continuously assess the availability of coverage under excess reinsurance, E&O, and FIB policies.
  • Claims Administration: Maintain accurate claim files, approve and process settlement payment requests, and review outside counsel and vendor invoices for reasonableness and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Litigation Support: Provide litigation support, testify as a company representative, and verify discovery responses, sign affidavits, and sign settlement agreements on behalf of the company.
Requirements
  • Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Experience: Experience in title law, with a strong understanding of claims handling and litigation management.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
