Position Overview
This role is integral to the operations of the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) within the Rocky Mountain Region. As an Electrical Engineer, you will engage in activities related to the principles of electrical engineering, applying scientific and mathematical methodologies to address electrical phenomena.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass:
  • Leading, preparing, coordinating, and evaluating operational planning studies (from current day to one year) and generating reports on enhancements and modifications to the power system to ensure it meets regional demands.
  • Documenting, organizing, and coordinating compliance requirements effectively.
  • Maintaining database information, graphic interfaces, and network models, ensuring that controls accurately reflect the characteristics of the real-time power system.
  • Representing the region in various committees, task forces, and advisory groups to achieve collaborative objectives.
  • Providing assistance and training to authorized personnel in implementing and documenting study results and related mitigation strategies.
  • Executing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Nationals. The role requires participation in the e-Verify program, and males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Candidates must also be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation.
Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess a degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with a focus on electrical engineering or a related field. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering principles is also acceptable.
Experience Requirements
Applicants should have specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, demonstrating the ability to apply electrical engineering concepts and methodologies to routine engineering projects, particularly in power systems operations and reliability.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, requiring physical presence at the designated duty location.
