Responsibilities

  • Measure and record patient vital signs; document patient interview and medical history.
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests; assist physicians with exams; explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens; perform basic waived lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications; change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments; practice OSHA safety standards; perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Process patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
  • Upon physician approval and authorization, call in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Use communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follow appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices. Follow up with coached patients via weekly calls.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for work experience.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • EMR system experience preferred.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience, along with comprehensive benefits, career development opportunities, and great work-life balance.
