Job Title: Groups Lead

As a key member of the Austin Stone Community Church team, the Groups Lead will play a vital role in leading, equipping, and caring for groups and missional communities. This position will be responsible for implementing the church's groups strategy, recruiting and developing group leaders, and providing shepherding care to congregation members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive groups strategy to launch and multiply new groups of believers in Austin.
  • Recruit, train, and resource group leaders and coaches to effectively lead and care for groups.
  • Collaborate with the Connections Associate/Director to plan and execute environments for group growth and development.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to congregation members, connecting them with elders or deacons as needed.
  • Lead a team of deacons to invest, support, and network with group participants, leaders, and coaches.
  • Manage the ministry budget and oversee complex data and reporting to track growth and measure progress.
  • Administrate equipping environments and partner with global and local missions teams to leverage short-term trips and local missions efforts for kingdom impact and leadership development.
  • Assist with redeploying participants from the Discipleship Making Intensive, Goer Missional Communities, and returning goers into the life of the congregation.
  • Support special projects as assigned and attend all required events and activities for The Austin Stone.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a vocational ministry role or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in shepherding people and providing pastoral care preferred.
  • Experience leading volunteers preferred.

  • Administration: demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement ministry programming.
  • Communication: clarity of speech and proper use of grammar, ability to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication.
  • Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills: proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes.
  • Collaborative Leadership: strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders.
  • Leadership Development: ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale.
