Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and oversight to our veterinary care team, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
  • Medical Expertise: Utilize your expertise in shelter medicine to develop and implement best practices for animal care, including routine surgical procedures and veterinary protocols.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor veterinary staff, including Registered Veterinary Technicians, new DVMs, and DVM students, to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional care.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with our team to ensure seamless communication and collaboration, promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Budgetary Oversight: Provide financial guidance and oversight to our Vetting Department, ensuring effective management of resources and budget.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and standards, applying your knowledge to improve animal welfare and care.
Requirements
  • Education: DVM degree with an active veterinary license in good standing in the State of Minnesota.
  • Experience: Proven experience in shelter medicine, with a strong understanding of animal health protocols and surgical procedures.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in veterinary software and systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Certifications: DEA license and any other relevant certifications.
