Company Overview and Position:
As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout our healthcare facilities, contributing significantly to Infection Control and Prevention efforts.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Supervisor of Environmental Services

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute cleaning tasks in patient rooms, whether occupied or vacant, along with designated hospital areas.
  • Provide cleaning services in communal spaces, including vacuuming, baseboard cleaning, and elevator maintenance.
  • Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of isolation rooms for infectious diseases, including Tuberculosis (TB), C-Diff, and COVID-19, as well as bathrooms, managing waste disposal, spot cleaning carpets and furniture, washing windows and walls, dusting surfaces, and ensuring overall cleanliness.
  • Oversee the exchange of sharp containers and deliver clean linen carts to their designated storage locations, ensuring organized utility rooms.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned within the Environmental Services department.
Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in housekeeping, linen services, or related environmental services, ideally in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of cleaning protocols and equipment operation after successfully completing a 90-day training period.
Essential Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the handling and disposal of infectious medical waste and soiled linens.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Interactions:
In this role, you will interact with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals throughout the facility.

Physical Requirements:

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. The position requires the ability to handle various equipment, supplies, and light to medium-weight furniture. Duties involve extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and stretching.

Work Environment:

This position may involve exposure to varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations. There is a heightened risk of exposure to cleaning chemicals and bloodborne pathogens.
