Wastewater Collections Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Collections Specialist to join our team at the City of Las Cruces. As a key member of our Utilities department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing our city's wastewater system.
Job Description:Our Wastewater Collections Specialist will perform a variety of duties, including:
- Installing, servicing, cleaning, and repairing wastewater lines using high-pressure trucks and other equipment.
- Setting up truck safety devices, opening manholes, and inserting high-pressure hoses and vacuum debris tubes.
- Operating television cameras and pipe locators to identify obstructions and ensure the smooth flow of wastewater.
- Constructing, installing, and maintaining sewer main lines and manholes using shoring, heavy equipment, and standard construction tools.
- Monitoring odor control sites, responding to complaints, and ensuring chemicals are being fed in accordance with calculated dosages.
- Participating in plant process control, maintaining daily logs, and monitoring equipment operations.
- Repairing and maintaining plant equipment, checking and calibrating flow meters, and performing building and facility maintenance.
- Monitoring lift station operations and performing routine maintenance.
- Installing new services for homes and businesses.
- Repairing sidewalks and performing general equipment maintenance.
- Responding to service complaints and informing customers of necessary actions.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of experience as a laborer, maintenance worker, or construction worker.
- A valid driver's license, with a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsement required within one year of employment.
- Level II Wastewater Certification.
