Position Overview: We are seeking an established professional to join our research unit or project team as a Lead Research Scientist. This role involves full accountability for the development and execution of procedures and processes in areas such as chemical synthesis, biotechnology, microbiology, analytical development, chemical engineering, and data management. The position will significantly influence both the immediate team and closely related workgroups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit scientific and technical leadership at the project level by guiding complex scientific decisions.
- Plan and evaluate experimental laboratory work, including scheduling, design, safety protocols, and coordination with associated services.
- Gather, summarize, and analyze complex interdependent data, drawing conclusions and presenting findings to promote best practices.
- Lead meetings and cross-functional project teams as assigned.
- Act as a key representative in group and project meetings, engaging with customers to build relationships.
- Develop and mentor a team of 1-5 laboratory technicians and junior team members.
- Proactively assess and implement trends and innovations within the area of expertise to enhance solution performance.
- Provide input for decisions regarding the adoption of new technologies.
- Oversee the management of hazardous waste in designated areas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields.
- 5-8 years of experience in a Senior Scientist capacity within a manufacturing or laboratory environment, preferably in the chemical sector.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace new challenges and foster a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Active participation as a member and leader in cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of operational and quality control needs, promoting open communication of results.
Compensation and Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $78,400 - $117,600. Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, training, and other job-related criteria. This role is also eligible for a short-term incentive bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, holidays, and sick leave.
