As a vital member of our imaging department, the Imaging Services Assistant operates under the guidance of departmental leadership, facilitating the smooth operation of various activities through effective communication, supply management, and staff coordination. This role involves interacting with personnel across multiple departments and providing administrative support to ensure optimal departmental functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
A typical day for an Imaging Services Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health may include:

  1. Exhibiting proficiency in executing assigned tasks in accordance with established protocols.
  2. Understanding imaging procedures and the implications of contrast usage, including reviewing relevant lab values and medical terminology.
  3. Providing clerical assistance to meet departmental needs, including test ordering, result processing, and managing communications.
  4. Coordinating patient appointments based on physician requests and ensuring clear communication of pre-registration and preparation instructions.
  5. Maintaining accurate patient records for billing and tracking purposes, including managing patient flow and cancellations.
  6. Delivering safe and direct patient care, assisting with table configurations, and supporting technologists and radiologists as needed.
  7. Greeting patients and guests, providing clear instructions for necessary paperwork and procedures.
  8. Retrieving and managing patient-related documents and imaging records efficiently.
  9. Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
  10. Participating in ongoing education and training as required.

Qualifications:
Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred:
1. Experience in data entry.

Licenses and Certifications:
1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within three months of hire.

Working Conditions:
Physical demands include lifting a minimum of 25 lbs, pushing and pulling at least 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods.
