Job Summary

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a qualified Before and After School Academy Teacher to oversee the daily operations of our tutoring program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of program components, providing supervision to participants, and building strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Operations: Administer the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring all components are implemented and running smoothly.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision to program participants, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Relationship Building: Build effective relationships with staff, students, and parents, encouraging parent involvement and identifying potential volunteers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records as required, including site checklists, attendance, food service, staff, and student forms.
  • Communication: Attend staff meetings and trainings, and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Work closely with school personnel, other YMCA staff, and site supervisors to ensure a seamless program experience.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to parents and program participants, responding to their needs and concerns.
  • Reporting: Assist with monthly statistical reports and participate in bi-monthly Parent Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Activity Planning: Plan and schedule site activities that align with the program curriculum, ensuring a engaging and educational experience for participants.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree and/or valid teaching licensure/certificate.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to apply proactive team management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Suite programs.
  • Availability: Available to work 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate occasional before-school hours and other duties as needed.
