Position Overview
FLEX College Prep is in search of enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication abilities to join our team of instructors. The role involves teaching middle and high school students across various subjects.
Subjects Offered
We cover a wide range of subjects including Math, Science, English, History, standardized test preparation (ACT/SAT), and enrichment courses focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, essay writing, and literature analysis. We welcome applicants from diverse educational backgrounds.
Responsibilities
As an Academic Instructor, you will:
- Assist students individually and in small groups with their academic coursework and test preparation.
- Develop and tailor lesson plans and curricula to provide personalized academic support.
- Maintain detailed reports of sessions to monitor progress and adjust to students' needs.
- Strive to help students achieve their academic objectives while ensuring a positive learning experience.
Work Environment
The position is based at FLEX Irvine, with most sessions taking place in-center. In-home sessions may be arranged with prior consent and are compensated at a higher rate.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor's degree (preferably from a top 50 U.S. college or university).
- Strong communication skills to build rapport with students and colleagues.
- A genuine passion for education.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring high school students.
- Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following are advantageous:
- Formal experience or training in education.
- Ability to teach multiple subjects (e.g., AP English, AP U.S. History, SAT Test Prep).
- Familiarity with standardized tests (AP, SAT, ACT, etc.) relevant to your subjects.
- Willingness to work at various locations.
