About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at UNC Health Appalachian. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed professional nurse, including preparing patients for procedures, administering treatment and personal care, and recording vital signs.
  • Assist with physical examinations, take and record patient information, and report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
  • Contribute to the education of patients and their families by reinforcing teaching instructed by professional staff or physicians as requested.
  • Act within the standards of behavior of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System and the scope of practice of a Nursing Assistant certified in the State of North Carolina.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required at time of hire.
  • Successful completion of an accredited CNA Program licensed in the State of North Carolina.
  • Previous experience as a CNA is preferred, but not required.
  • Certified as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued from the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
Working Conditions
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
  • Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals, and specimens and unpleasant elements.
  • Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) and emergencies.
