Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service: Prepare and ensure the consistent preparation and timely delivery of quality food to residents, guests, family members, and staff.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Ensure adherence to safe food handling, proper personal hygiene, and sanitation procedures, according to Health Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Team Supervision and Training: Provide on-going supervision and training of kitchen staff to ensure that they are equipped to provide excellent service and maintain high standards of culinary excellence.
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Assist with the creation of menu rotation according to guidelines, secure needed food items and supplies within approved departmental budget, and ensure consistent adherence to recipes.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor food production to minimize waste and over production, and ensure that inventory levels are maintained within approved limits.
  • Plate Presentation: Ensure consistent and appealing garnishment of plate presentation to enhance the dining experience.
  • Support and Collaboration: Provide hands-on support as needed to ensure efficient operations, and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience preparing a variety of foods in varying quantities in a supervisory capacity.
  • Leadership and Communication: Ability to make independent decisions as needed, establish and maintain professional, positive relationships between production and service staff, and articulate and delegate tasks to staff.
  • Sanitation Certification: Current sanitation certification and any other Mather LifeWays, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Reliability and Attendance: Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance to provide timely service to internal and external customers and support uninterrupted business operations.
