Job Summary

Central Market is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Manager to oversee the daily operations of our meat market. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and driving sales growth in the meat department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, wrap, rotate, cut, test, and order meat for new and existing retail customers.
  • Assist the Manager with organization and delegation of duties, including scheduling.
  • Cut meat for full and self-service cases.
  • Organize and delegate the day-to-day operation of the meat market.
  • Place and receive meat orders, including inventory control.
  • Monitor work conditions for safety and sanitation.
  • Clean, sanitize, and organize the meat cooler, the cutting room, and the wrap station.
  • Perform cutting tests on the profitability of retail meat cuts.
  • Provide internal customer service and assist in supervising up to 10 employees in the Market Department.
Requirements
  • Typically requires 5-8 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of department product, food preparation, and equipment required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years exp. in meat cutting, food preparation, and equipment required.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Certification preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Function in a fast-paced, retail environment.
  • Lift 20 lbs or more on an occasional basis.
