Basketball Coach Position

Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Coach to join our team. As an Assistant Coach, you will assist the Head Coach in leading our basketball program to success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Fund-Raising: Assist the Head Coach in recruiting top talent, identifying and recommending student athletes, and managing the basketball program in compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development of the basketball program, including practice preparation, scheduling of games, and game day coaching.
  • Rules Compliance: Ensure full compliance with NJCAA, Commonwealth of Virginia, and Athletics Department policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous college-level experience in playing or coaching organized basketball.
  • Knowledge in fund-raising and recruiting.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and critical thinking skills when determining students' needs.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of college and NJCAA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to relate to potential students with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to interact with faculty and staff as it relates to student academic needs.
  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal automobile, with the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles.
  • Available for frequent evening and weekend games and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basketball coaching experience on the college level.
  • Experience in fund-raising and recruiting student-athletes.
