Job Summary

The Highlands County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team. As a key member of our fire and emergency medical services department, you will be responsible for providing critical care and emergency response services to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide fire and emergency medical services to the public.
  • Operate fire and emergency medical equipment, including ambulances and fire trucks.
  • Perform rescue and emergency medical procedures, including patient assessment and treatment.
  • Participate in fire prevention and education programs to promote public safety.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of emergency responses and patient care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Florida Firefighter II Certificate of compliance required.
  • Current Florida Paramedic certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency environment and make quick decisions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including emergency situations, and to lift and carry heavy equipment. The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment and to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
