Firefighter EMT

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter EMT to join our team at the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners. As a Firefighter EMT, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, providing medical care, and fighting fires in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Respond to emergency calls and provide medical care to patients
• Fight fires and perform rescue operations
• Operate fire apparatus and equipment
• Perform maintenance tasks on department buildings and equipment
• Attend training sessions to stay up-to-date on firefighting and emergency medical techniques
• Provide public education programs on fire safety and emergency preparedness

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Florida driver's license
• Florida Firefighter II Certificate
• Current State of Florida or National registry EMT certification
• 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Operation (EVOC) certification
• CPR/AED for Health Care Provider (BLS) certification

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to hazardous materials and situations. The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and meet the physical and medical requirements for firefighter and hazardous material per N.F.P.A. Standards.
