Covelo Group is in search of a credentialed school nurse (CSN) to enhance our Educational Services division. This role is ideal for professionals dedicated to addressing the specific healthcare needs of students within an educational environment.

Role Summary

As a school nurse, your primary responsibility will be to advocate for health promotion, disease prevention, and overall well-being among the student body. This includes maintaining accurate records of immunizations and health histories for students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Your role will extend beyond basic first aid to encompass the management of chronic health conditions such as allergies, asthma, and diabetes. Care provided must align with individual education plans (IEPs), individual healthcare plans (IHPs), and 504 plans when applicable.

Depending on the health needs of students, you may be required to administer a variety of treatments, including respiratory therapies and the management of medical equipment like catheters and ventilators. You will also oversee medication administration, ensuring all necessary documentation and authorizations are in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency care to students who are ill or injured
  • Verify health and immunization records, ensuring compliance with state regulations and district policies
  • Assist in health screening clinics
  • Administer immunizations during district clinics
  • Maintain health information for individual education programs (IEPs)
  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff regarding health-related matters
  • Manage health office records, reports, and supplies

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from an accredited nursing program

Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years as a Registered Nurse in a school environment preferred

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of practice
  • Certified School Nurse (CSN) through the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN)
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
