Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at Summit 7 Systems, Inc. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure and efficient Linux-based IT infrastructure for our government program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable and secure Linux-based systems and services.
  • Configure and manage RHEL platforms, including installation, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain effective configuration management practices and services.
  • Implement and oversee security configurations, addressing vulnerabilities associated with RHEL platforms and services.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage patches, updates, and related documentation for RHEL systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to analyze, develop, configure, test, integrate, and maintain RHEL systems.
Requirements
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with the RHEL command line interface.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how RHEL platforms interact with external applications, platforms, and services.
  • Proven experience with Ansible for ad hoc and playbook executions.
  • Extensive experience in developing and running shell scripts.
  • Intermediate experience with RHEL 7 and 8 system administration and configuration.
  • Basic understanding of VMware vSphere 7 (or newer).
  • Basic knowledge of Windows platforms, services, and applications.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with CI Poly.
  • S. citizenship is required.
  • Background investigation is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Tenable Security Center + Nessus (ACAS), Trellix ESS (client-side), Puppet, Chef, IdM, git repositories, and other common tools.
  • Intermediate experience with RHEL 7, 8, and 9 system engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of multifactor authentication configurations for RHEL clients.
Work Environment

The work environment is an office setting. This person must have the physical capacity to sit still for long durations with occasional movement within the office to access files or office equipment. This person must also have the technical skill to arrange an office space using the equipment provided. The person in this position regularly interacts with employees and clients through various modes of communication, such as emails, phone calls, video calls, etc. This person must have the communication skill to convey precise information in these situations.
