Job Title: Budget Director

City of Norwood is seeking a strategic and experienced Budget Director to oversee our financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal management, ensuring that our resources are allocated effectively to support our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage the municipality's budget, including its preparation, administration, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with department heads, elected officials, and other stakeholders to ensure financial transparency, compliance, and accountability.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop a team of financial professionals.
  • Assist with tasks as delegated by the Auditor or Treasurer.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in budget management, financial planning, or a related area, preferably within the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, budgeting practices, applicable Ohio Revised Code sections for municipalities, and other financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
