Job Summary

NASA Ames Research Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Development Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions, with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and speech recognition technologies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in Python and cloud-based development environments. They will also have a solid understanding of NLP technologies, including speech recognition APIs and spatially-enabled databases.

As a member of our team, the Software Development Engineer will work closely with a diverse group of analysts and engineers to develop key features and improvements for our project. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software solutions, as well as collaborating with the team to ensure seamless production deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software solutions using Python and cloud-based development environments
  • Design and implement NLP technologies, including speech recognition APIs and spatially-enabled databases
  • Collaborate with the team to develop key features and improvements for our project
  • Ensure seamless production deployments through continuous delivery pipeline

Requirements

  • MS in Computer Science
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Python language
  • Experience with speed recognition technology APIs such as Google Speech to Text, or CMU Sphinx
  • Familiarity with other Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies
  • Experience with spatially-enabled database
  • Experience with cloud-based development and deployments, such as Azure and AWS
  • Experience using best practices in Infrastructure as Code and CM
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Atlassian suite

Desired Skills

  • Experience in data modeling using JSON and XML/GML
  • Knowledge of air traffic management and Traffic Management Initiatives in National Air Space (NAS)
  • Experience with common language dictionary and phraseology
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
