Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is tasked with delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient care in the Emergency Department while adhering to professional nursing standards.
- Guiding patient and family education, as well as supervising other nursing staff.
- Communicating effectively with physicians regarding patient conditions and diagnostic results.
- Responding promptly to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses.
- Ensuring compliance with EMTALA regulations and reporting requirements.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week on the night shift, with the expectation of working every other weekend and holidays as part of the rotation.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a current and valid state RN License.
- Hold a current BLS certification upon hire and maintain it.
- Obtain ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain it.
- Have a current PALS certification and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire.
- Complete Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation training within 30 days of hire.
- Have a minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital, preferably in an emergency setting.
- Certification as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) are preferred.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- For positions in Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire.
- Completion of emergency pediatric courses within 6 months of hire for EDAP certified facilities.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) completion within 12 months of hire is required.
