Job Summary

The Low Voltage Electrician Technician is responsible for performing highly skilled maintenance, installation, repairs, and troubleshooting work with low voltage electrical systems at Loretto Hospital. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair low voltage electrical cables and systems, including Cat 5/6, speaker wire/intercom, and coax.
  • Maintain and repair nurse call systems, TV systems, and intercom/IP systems.
  • Demonstrate proper cable management and containment practices.
  • Understand and adhere to life safety codes related to wall penetrations and fire/smoke spread prevention.
  • Knowledge of electrical NEC Codes and proper tool handling and maintenance.
  • Repair and expand existing clock systems.
  • Advise management on potential equipment hazards and take corrective action.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohm meters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active electrician's license or identification card
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Working Conditions

The Low Voltage Electrician Technician will work in a fast-paced hospital environment with frequent exposure to electrical systems and equipment. The role requires regular use of ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and equipment.
