As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating patients.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and process specimens, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Perform basic and complex laboratory tests, including reagent preparation and test performance.
- Report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conduct quality control tasks to ensure the validity of test results.
- Maintain equipment and perform troubleshooting procedures.
- Assist with the instruction and consultation of new employees, residents, and medical students.
- Participate in the Pathology Quality Assurance program.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Certification by one of the following organizations: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA).
- Ability to follow laboratory procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
