Position Overview

Role Summary: Assist the special education instructor in managing classroom operations and work with individual or small groups of students as directed by the supervising teacher. Depending on program requirements, management retains the right to modify assignments. Edinbrook Elementary seeks an Educational Support Professional with a range of skills. Candidates should confidently guide and redirect students, possess strong clerical abilities such as copying and laminating, and be adept at working with small groups in reading and math. Comfort in supervising larger groups during lunch and on the playground is essential. Additionally, candidates must exhibit a positive demeanor and flexibility in daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the execution of students' special education instructional plans, including physical and behavioral management, with specific duties assigned by the supervising teacher based on individual student needs.
  • Assist in the implementation and adherence to students' individual plans across all settings as designated by the supervising teacher.
  • Gather observational data regarding assigned students in various educational environments and report findings to the supervising teacher.
  • Help prepare, collect, and maintain educational materials and equipment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and any other special gatherings as requested by the supervising teacher.
  • Complete educational forms, reports, and other student-related documentation as directed by the special education teacher.
  • Perform any additional duties deemed necessary by the team and approved by the Special Education Coordinator/Supervisor.
  • Engage in district training programs prior to and throughout employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must possess the skills necessary to work effectively with children, staff, and parents, and have the physical capability to assist with students' physical needs as required.
  • Participation in district training programs prior to and during employment is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Candidates must demonstrate the skills necessary to collaborate with children, staff, and parents.
  • Physical capability to assist with students' physical needs is required.
Compensation: Refer to the Classification 2 salary grid and Classification 1 salary grid outlined in the Educational Support Professional contract.
Work Schedule: 6 hours per day (3 hours in Special Education, 1.5 hours in Clerical, and 1.5 hours in Instructional) for 5 days a week.
Job Type: Part-time, school year.
