Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Campus Life Associate. This position is part of the Residential Services Department within the Campus Life Division of the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC). As a Campus Life Associate, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, clean, and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities, promoting positive social interaction, interpersonal skills, and self-management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients and rehabilitation team members to create a positive and inclusive residential/recreational experience.
  • Assess individual and group needs, and plan and implement programs to meet those needs.
  • Provide targeted supports and interventions to residential consumers to maximize their opportunity to succeed.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote a safe and secure environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, staff, and visitors to ensure a positive and respectful environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health and human service-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Training or experience in behavior modification, crisis intervention, problem-solving, confidentiality, and boundary issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication, computer, and organization/time management skills.
  • Ability to relate positively to people with disabilities and knowledge of the disabilities they face.
  • Valid VA Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training or experience in recreational therapy, fitness instruction, lifeguarding, or coaching.
  • Certifications such as CTRS, Fitness Instruction Certification, Lifeguarding, or Coaching.
