Job Title: Physicist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Physicist to join our team at North Wind Services. As a Physicist, you will provide expertise in reaction theory and nuclear data, supporting advanced theories and improving physics descriptions of reactions. You will engage with teams to improve our understanding of reactions and descriptions in library form, and implement new methods for calculating probabilities and data libraries for modeling and simulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise, mentoring, and discussions of advanced reaction theory and nuclear data activities.
  • Support advanced theories improving physics descriptions of reactions to assess measured data and fill gaps for nuclear data libraries used in multiple applications.
  • Engage in discussions regarding code improvements and share depth of knowledge, while providing expert-level peer review.
  • Work with teams comprised of technical staff, nuclear reaction theorists, experimentalists, and the nuclear data team on projects improving our understanding of reactions and descriptions in library form.
  • Implement new methods for calculating probabilities and data libraries for modeling and simulation.
  • Provide significant expertise in both reaction theory and nuclear data.
  • Support and improvements to current theoretical capabilities to improve accuracy of light-ion and neutron nuclear data.
  • Regularly attend internal and external meetings to foster communication and connections.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Physics, or a related field, or the equivalent of 15 years of experience in nuclear theories and nuclear research.
  • 10 years of experience in reaction theory and nuclear data development, with a familiarity of the user community needs.
  • Subject matter expert in scientific theory advancements and a background in nuclear theory library production.
  • Significant expertise in nuclear reaction theory, understanding of nuclear data production, trusted expert who can interface with the external theory and data communities.
  • Strong experience working with Microsoft Office and other Microsoft products.
  • Knowledge of theory codes developed such as FRESCO and YAHFC.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with mentoring and training peers in subjects such as nuclear theories, reaction theories, and data production.

  • Anticipated Clearance Level: P (position will be cleared to this level).
