Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Specialist to join our team at 3M. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, running, and evaluating chemical processing equipment to safely produce high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support higher-level Chemical Operators in routine operations while progressing through the training sequence.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as training is completed and certified by the trainer.
  • Operate material moving equipment, including Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, Hand Trucks, and Drum Lifts.
  • Use safe and proper procedures to charge material into the unit using proper methods and equipment.
  • Monitor unit and product in unit by visual observation and physical testing.
  • Identify unusual vacuum or temperature curves to assure safe operation and quality results.
  • Record information and data as required by standard and/or instructions to give a complete history of each run.
  • Verify the unit and auxiliaries are in suitable condition to operate.
  • Confirm availability of weight tanks and assume they are in proper condition.
  • Set up automatic batch equipment to deliver prescribed quantities.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand process and safety standards.
  • Ability to make calculations to determine charge amounts, adjustments, and yields.
  • Understanding of basic and inorganic chemistry and distillation processes.
  • Ability to perform first-line maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting and problem-solving on process equipment.
  • Knowledge of factory service procedures.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory progress on training competencies and certification status on all units in the building or unit.
