Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Librarian (Intermediate/Teen) to join our team at the Akron-Summit County Public Library. This role will support the development of youth and community programs, promote literacy and engagement, and deliver exceptional library services to our patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs for intermediate-aged youth and teens, including literacy initiatives and community outreach.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to promote library services and resources.
  • Perform collection maintenance duties, including creating displays, weeding, and arranging materials to meet customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Collection Development to identify customer and community trends and interests, and develop materials lists and displays to promote library services.
  • Develop and maintain special files and collections, and assist with training new hires and other employees on agency routines.
  • Provide creative content for social media, marketing, and other library platforms to promote library services and resources.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of library science principles and practices, including customer interests and intellectual freedom.
  • Ability to plan and conduct programs for library customers, and engage new audiences and promote library services.
  • Excellent customer service skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems, and lift light objects and push library materials carts.
