Overview:
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the development and upkeep of specialized testing apparatus utilized for conducting simulated launch evaluations of the engine control system. This role is integral to a dedicated team focused on the operation, maintenance, enhancement, and certification of these systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the special test equipment is maintained, certified, and fully operational to support testing operations. Conduct thorough failure analysis to diagnose issues and implement corrective and preventative measures.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to guarantee seamless integration of testing equipment, flight hardware, and software.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of testing equipment, including capturing requirements, creating schematics, evaluating vendors, verifying requirements, and validating equipment.
Current Development Focus:
- Implementing an upgrade to the laboratory control digital system, facilitating lab configuration for testing and real-time failure insertion.
- Creating a next-generation Simulation Interface Adapter (SIA), serving as the hardware interface between the software engine model and the hardware engine controller, simulating all engine sensors and effectors.
- Formulating test operation procedures and certification protocols for testing equipment.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in developing custom testing equipment, including system architecture, hardware design, and requirement verification and validation.
- Proficient in measurement and sampling techniques for accurate data collection and recording.
- Familiarity with common communication protocols for controlling laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, waveform generators, and logic analyzers.
- Proven ability to verify testing systems for compliance with system requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required, along with 5+ years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
