As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at the University of Maryland Medical System, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures with radioisotope and radiation detection methods.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Expertise: Execute advanced clinical competence in nuclear medicine technology, ensuring accurate preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications for patient imaging procedures.
- Instrumentation and Imaging: Process data and enhance digital images using advanced computer technology, providing high-quality images and data analysis to physicians for diagnostic interpretation.
- Quality Assurance and Safety: Ensure safety and security in the storage and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to Joint Commission, State, Federal, and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives, contributing to workflow optimization, patient experience, and quality enhancement.
- Education: Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in nuclear medicine technology.
- Licensures/Certifications: Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT), Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist - State of MD, and Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- Education: Associate Degree or Bachelor degree in a related field.
- Licensures/Certifications: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NCT and/or PET, Approval letter from the State of MD Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device or ARRT (CT), and Licensed Radiographer - State of MD.
