Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Synectics Inc. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing airframe components, test fixturing, and other critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop airframe components, test fixturing, and other critical systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions

  • Develop tooling solutions for fabrication, assembly, and test

  • Support test of hardware (airframe components, engines, etc.)

  • Participate in the flight-test team (travel to test range and support the end-to-end test effort)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree with at least 5+ years of experience

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)

  • Experience in stress analysis (hand calculations and FEA)

  • Experience with hardware test (component, assembly, or system) - including test plans, procedures, and data review

  • Experience with design and hands-on fabrication of airframes, and/or personal experience physically assembling or manufacturing hardware

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and critical thinking

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills for technical documentation, physical documentation, and hardware

  • Willingness to work collaboratively across a broad range of activities to support team goals

  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion

  • Adept at prioritizing tasks and executing multiple assignments concurrently in a rapidly changing environment

  • Experience as a Reliability Engineer

  • Knowledge of PLM, ERP, and other manufacturing planning systems

  • Software scripting experience in any language

  • Experience with composites

  • Experience with metallics (e.g. welding, rolling, milling)
