Job Description

East Bank Club, a premier fitness, sports, and dining facility in Chicago, is seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to join our culinary team.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods according to recipes and standards, ensuring high-quality and consistency in our pastry offerings.
  • Assist in the production of high-quality breads, cakes, cookies, and other pastry products, adhering to our culinary standards.
  • Plate and garnish desserts in an appealing and creative way, showcasing our culinary expertise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to our high standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all pastry ingredients, minimizing waste and optimizing inventory.
  • Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels, adapting to changing conditions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure efficient operations, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • At all times, proper sanitation and safety guidelines must be followed, and all kitchen work and storage areas must be kept clean and organized.
  • Help with inventory management and ordering of pastry supplies, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing stockouts.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and production, including recipe development and execution.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, with attention to detail and high standards for quality.
  • Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, calculating ratios, and managing inventory.
  • Creative flair and artistic skills in plating and presentation, showcasing our culinary expertise.
  • Attention to detail and high standards for quality, ensuring consistency and excellence in our pastry offerings.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, adapting to changing schedules.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
  • Complete production sheets and other records as required, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • May be required to prepare baked goods for special diets, adapting to changing customer needs.
  • Provide training and coaching for staff as needed, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, adhering to our high standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time, adapting to changing work conditions.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, adapting to changing priorities and needs.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in preparing and training others in fruit coulis preparation is required.
  • Culinary degree or formal pastry training (Preferred).
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
