At Central City Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a proven track record of success in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.

About the Role

The Financial Operations Specialist will work closely with our Controller to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, statements, and other documents. This role will also be responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital equipment budgets, as well as the preparation of annual audit work papers and related reports.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, monthly financial statements, and review, interpret, and analyze financial/accounting data to assist in decision-making.
  • Review and record payments for all vendors related to the Healthcare System construction projects.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Human Resources, and Materials Management to resolve problems related to the General Ledger.
  • Complete various projects used for contract negotiations, other departments, and/or external organizations, as assigned by the Controller and/or CFO.
  • Support the overall functions of the finance department to ensure the integrity of financial statements and ensure the facility is operating in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Controller.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Four years of recent progressive finance and/or accounting experience is required.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience or progressive responsibility is highly preferred.
  • Valid State of Michigan Accounting licensure is preferred.
  • Experience in a public health, community mental health, FQHC, healthcare, or non-profit setting is preferred.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Office 365 applications, including MS Excel, is required.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of up to $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
