Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team in maintaining and testing fire alarm systems for campus buildings. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with internal customers to resolve issues and work orders, and support ancillary systems monitored by fire alarm panels.


Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Proactively identify and address fire alarm deficiencies and failures
  • Diagnose fire systems failures using diagnostic tools, including multi-meter, computer-based fire alarm software, electrical schematics, and blueprints
  • Assist in annual testing of fire alarm systems, including smoke and heat detectors, door hold opens, smoke exhaust systems, etc.
  • Respond to work order requests in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner
  • Maintain records of test results and other relevant data
  • Utilize University assets in a safe and responsible manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:


  • Vocational Diploma in a specific trade or career
  • Minimum of five years' experience working in a particular craft or multi-craft position
  • Ability to obtain a Missouri Class E Driver's License by the end of the probationary period


Preferred Qualifications:


  • NICET I, II, or III certification
  • Experience with fire alarm systems, including Johnson Controls Metasys and low voltage systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
