At Carle Health, we are seeking a skilled Business Service Representative to play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and administrative support. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling processes. Your strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers will make a significant impact on our patients' experiences.



Key Responsibilities:



• Confirm patient identification and register/check-in patients upon arrival for scheduled and walk-in appointments/visits
• Manage incoming patient care requests, including in-basket activities, referrals, and work queue activity
• Request, locate, send, receive, and scan patient medical records as needed
• Receive and post co-payments, maintain cash drawers, and balance according to procedures
• Perform insurance eligibility verification and understand terms and information listed on Real Time Eligibility (RTE) reports
• Interview patients with potential financial hardship and/or without third-party coverage and work with them for resolution
• Accurately explain and complete registration and admitting forms, obtain signatures, and explain consents and other forms
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) form and follow up on necessary information
• Understand computer applications common to the desk areas and complete mandatory EPIC and insurance training



Requirements:



• Associate's Degree in a related field or one year of relevant business, healthcare, or finance work experience
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality
• Self-motivated and dependable, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively with patients and their families, and maintain a high standard of confidentiality
