Job Title: Peer Recovery Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team at The Santé Group Inc. This is a part-time weekend position in Elkton, MD.

Job Summary:

The Peer Recovery Specialist will assess, evaluate, and perform crisis intervention techniques, developing a crisis plan for continuation of services related to individual clients. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in performing danger assessments, crisis assessments, environmental assessments, and lethality assessments
  • Effectively perform crisis intervention, including de-escalation, crisis planning, and implementation
  • Design appropriate referral recommendations using available community resources
  • Address a population of child, adolescent, adult, dual-diagnosis, co-occurring, and elderly individuals
  • Work with families and involved persons to de-escalate situations, make crisis plans, and enlist cooperation with recommended treatment
  • Document interactions using CRS procedures
  • Participate in and complete all required trainings
  • Provide education in the community about the agency and all components of CRS when needed
  • Check work e-mail at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Provide mentoring to interns and new staff
Requirements:
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Certification (CPRS) or willingness to be certified within a one (1) year of employment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year professional experience
  • Three (3) years in full recovery AND five (5) years lived experience with mental illness, substance abuse, or a co-occurring disorder for yourself or your family
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance
